EVENT CONCLUDED

The VI annual workshop of the EURL for Insects & Mites was held on June 3-4 2025, in Saku (Estonia), in the facilities of the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge (METK, NRL Estonia). It was co-organized by EURL and METK, METK ensuring the local logistics and IT support. The workshop gathered 39 guests on site and 53 other participants on line. All the 26 EU NRLs attended, of which 17 representatives were physically present. The European Commission, EFSA, EPPO and EUPHRESCO were represented, and we welcomed as external guests Matteo Marchioro (University of Padova, Italy), Giselher Grabenweger (Agroscope, Switzerland), Kiwoong Nam and Anne-Nathalie Volkoff (INRAE, France).

24 slideshows were provided. These included the main EURL activities conducted in 2024-2025, presentations by guest speakers and NRLs, and self-presentation by METK. Four NRL presentations were devoted to the latest situation reports about Spodoptera frugiperda in Southern Europe, another one to the detection of Popillia japonica in Slovenia. A last presentation detailing EURL reimbursement rules was planned but could not be provided because of time shortage. All slide presentations are downloadable from the restricted part of the EURL website. During the Workshop, the participants were also invited to visit the METK facilities. This included a guided walkthrough to the quarantine greenhouses that had just been delivered to METK to host infested and potentially infested samples.
