The EURL organizes Proficiency Tests (PT) on detection and identification of regulated quarantine plant-parasitic nematodes in order to assess and ensure the reliability and accuracy of the analyses carried out by the National Reference Laboratories (NRLs).
Proficiency tests are performed under accreditation according to the ISO 17043 standard.

The European Union Reference Laboratory for Plant Parasitic Nematodes yearly organizes a workshop, especially intended for the National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) in the European Union. The purpose of these workshops is to inform the participants about the activities of the EURL, to present and discuss the results of Proficiency Tests (PT), to present and discuss scientific research projects and to exchange information on the European Union legislation, methods, and other relevant subjects.

Our 1st Annual Workshop was held in the form of an online webinar on the 12th and 13th of October, 2020.
 

An impressive turn-out of 54 participants from 23 EU Member States and the United Kingdom. They were in attendance for interesting presentations from the EPPO, EU Commission, INRAE, the Dutch NPPO, the EURL for Bee Health and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD).
 

A number of topics were covered, among them the legal basis of the EURL, including our tasks and missions, the new plant health regulation and accreditation, as well as the emerging Plant Parasitic Nematodes.
